Kumud Tripathi (age 23 years)
only friend of our Mrinali.
###
Banaras, the city of streets and ghats, this city and the life of the people are very simple and straightforward. The morning of this city of Mahadev begins with Mahadev and the evening begins with Ganga Aarti.
Where Mahadev is present in every particle, where people believe that the city is running because of the grace of Mahadev and the people here consider themselves tenants of Mahadev.
This is the city that will force you to forget yourself, Banaras's paan, chaat, Ganga ghat and Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Sharma Niwas
At 2 in the morning, under the lamp's light, the sound of pages turning echoes as a girl wearing glasses sits and studies her Hindi literature books—lost in her own world, away from everything else, simply studying so she can live her dreams.
After finishing her studies, she gets up from her place and begins to get ready to go to her favorite place.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple:–
( The Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Banaras is one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is located on the western bank of the sacred river Ganga and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The main deity of this temple is Vishwanath (which means "Lord of the Universe"). The city of Banaras is also known by the names Varanasi and Kashi. That is why the temple is called Kashi Vishwanath Temple.)
The temple doors open at 2:30 in the morning.
The girl is immersed in the Mangala Aarti that takes place from 3 to 4 AM.
After the Aarti concludes, the darshan (viewing of the deity) of Lord Vishwanath begins at 4 AM.
The girl also offers her prayers and thanks the Lord for everything He has given her.
The place that brings peace to her soul is 500 km away from the temple.
(Dashashwamedh Ghat is a ghat on the Ganga River located in Varanasi.
*This ghat was constructed by the municipal corporation.
*It takes only 8 to 10 minutes to reach here from the temple.
*From 5 AM to 7 AM, the atmosphere at this ghat is so peaceful and beautiful that it fills the heart with joy.
*This early morning time is perfect for a boat ride.
*At 6 PM in the evening, the Ganga Maiya Aarti is performed here.)
Quickly settling into the calm atmosphere of the ghat, the girl sits by the bank of the Ganga, simply soaking in the divine view. With her eyes closed, she just sits there—no thoughts in her mind, no sorrow, no rush—only peace.
She doesn’t even realize how time slips by, and an entire hour passes as she continues to feel that deep serenity.
Just then, a voice calls out from behind, “Mrinali.”
Yes, this is the heroine of our story—Mrinali.
(Dressed in a light sky-blue kurti with palazzo pants, a dupatta draped over her head, a small bindi on her forehead, glasses guarding her dark eyes, delicate earrings in her ears, a gold nose ring on her nose, and her hair neatly tied up.)
The one calling out to her is none other than her friend Kumud Tripathi, who, seemingly in a great hurry, comes running to her, panting—as if some big trouble has just occurred.
###
( *That’s all for today. Tomorrow, we’ll meet Mrinali’s family members.
* We’ll also get a glimpse of Mrinali’s house, her room, her neighborhood, and the neighbors—tomorrow itself.
*I also want to tell you that, I don’t personally know much about Banaras. I’m sharing with you whatever I’ve learned through Google, YouTube, and blogs. It’s my heartfelt wish to visit Banaras at least once. So, if I make any mistakes, please kindly forgive me.
*This is also my first experience with writing. Through this story,
* I too am getting to know Banaras—along with all of you.)
